Exclusive interview with N-Dubz
N-Dubz consists of Tulisa, Dappy and Faze; they are three extremely talented artists that have fused them selves together as one of the biggest bands since The Beetles. The band is based around Camden Town, London. This may seem an overstatement to you guys however this group has received an unbelievable amount of attention and airplay from Channel U and Kiss (radio and TV). We first heard from N-Dubz when they released their first ever single ‘You better not waste my time’. The track has driven the force behind the group’s success, however fans truly exploded when ‘I swear’ hit our screens. The fusion of UK hip hop, grime and pop, the track spread like wild fire, and before anyone knew it N-Dubz made UK underground history.
I catch up with the guy as they got back from a gig in Birmingham.
N-Dubz wanted to introduce themselves…
You’ve heard of us, even if you don’t know it yet. Remember that boy driving you mad every morning on the No.42? The one playing music on his mobile at full volume? He’s listening to our music. So is his sister, his best mate, his best mate older brother and his teacher.
Throughout our career we’ve strived to become masters of the melody, kings of the chorus and rulers of the adlib, simply we put balance straight-up pop smashes with a street smart style and our music’s for everyone.
“We make songs for your mum, your dad and you’re Nan”
Three years ago we were practically unknown but through hard work and perseverance we’ve cultivated a wide and loyal fan baseand now all across the country people know us by our signature catchphrase of ‘Na-na-niiii’, ‘Ha ha, ha ha’ and ‘It’s N-Dubz (N-Dubz) WHAT!’ as well as our love of eye catching head wear. It feels like it’s our time now and our growing fan base seems hungry to hear more.
So how did you guys come about?
Dappy: well girl, Tulisa is my cousin and Faze is my boy (best mate) we are N-Dubz and we all started when we was babies. We ent no manufactured band, we started performing when we was about eleven and twelve years old all the way up to now! We are now called N-Dubz and we will be the biggest band in the frikkin world.
Who came up with band name N-Dubz?
Tulisa: well basically the N in N-Dubz is for the North-West because we come from that are in London and Dubz can mean anything you want it to mean. We chose to be called N-Dubz and not NW-Dubz because we wanted to cover the whole of North London.
Tell us about you new album that is out on the 23rd November?
Faze: yeah! Make sure you got the album, it’s hot! We promise you will not be let down; track one to sixteen is a sing-a-long, you can listen to that, you mum can listen to it, your grandparents can listen to it, your uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews and nieces can jam to it too!
Dappy: don’t be forgetting the thugs in the street and of course Santa Claus can all listen to it too!
Why have you named your new album ‘Uncle B’?
Tulisa: Uncle B is my Uncle which is Dappy’s dad which died last year (2007). We devoted this album to him because he always encouraged us with our music and helped whenever we needed him; we love you and miss you!
Dappy: as Tulisa said he was my dad and our latest single which is also on the album called Papa was written for him by me and Tulisa.
Sorry to hear that, but do you find it emotional to perform?
Dappy: to be honest yeah we all did at first but we remember what he always told us and that was to focus and perform. We do it for you dad!
Tulisa, how does it feel to be the only girl in the group?
Tulisa: I’ve been asked this before. (She throws her hands up in the air) I love it! Nah it’s good because I enjoy it and there’s no bitching. Plus I also get to be the drama queen, I’m the only diva around here and I’m lovin’ it!
People have seen you being rinsed on Channel U, what are the haters saying?
Dappy: oh we love the haters
Tulisa: yeah we love them! I almost had a fight with some kids last week; they were a bit small so I thought allow it. This is something to write down, say we’re performing on a big stage and someone shouts boo or whatever and get off the stage that is the person I am going to perform too.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Tulisa: taking over the world!
Dappy: on top of a mountain with a big fat beer belly!
Uncategorized | Comment (0)Computer Game Brief Analysis – Rock Band (for the Wii)
The media language used in the game is informa. The mise-en-scene is dark with bright lights, a stage and an audience, so the player can think that they’re real rock star’s on a stage. The characters costumes can vary and it is up to the player to decide which costume there rock band member will wear. To play the game you must by, the drum kit, electric guitar and the micro-phone.
The insitituation for the games, played on a Nintendo Wii and the game is created by EA games; which is popular worldwide. In some respects there are winners and losers in the games as the console will rang the player as accurate they played the instruments.
The genre for Rock Band is music and role-play, this game will attract consumers of all ages.
The Representation of this games is that player will get in to the charactor of being a rock star. However the consumer can make the rock star there own, by changing song choice and outfit choice (which includes hair do’s).
The audience will be friends or family or even the other player which are playing the game too. Although there is an electronic audience that can shout or boo depending on how well the consumers has done.
The ideology of Rock Band is, where the Rock Band are continuously trying to impress the auience and trying to improve there top score.
In my conclusion of Rock Band I believe that this game can be enjoyed alone or incompany. The games easy find a local stockist to buy the games however it’s quite expensive because the buyer has to buy all the equipment for it to be able to work.

Audience Theory Essay
The film I studied to complete this essay was Memento (2000), directed by Christopher Nolan. Memento is a physiological film that works from front to back; this grasps viewer attention and keeps them focused. Lenard Shelby, the main character and narrative of the movie he has no memory except for he can remember things about his face and he can also remember his dead wife; to remember important information he either tattoos it on his body or takes Polaroid photographs and writes on them.
The first scene in the movie gave a significant sense of what this movie would include through-out. The first camera shot that is shown is of Lenard holding the Polaroid of a crime scene, as the titles role in the slow classical music gets louder as the Polaroid fades. The main character Lenard narratives the film however, it only happens when scenes switch to black and white. Memento is difficult to understand if the consumer doesn’t watch it from the first scene to the last; most viewer may find the colour of the scenes switching confusing however it makes it clearer for the reader to follow because black and white allows the Lenard (main character) to explain where he is in the story and the coloured scenes are working backwards (retracing steps) to the murder and rape of his wife.
There were violent/disturbing scenes in the movie such as, physical fighting, gun shots and crime scenes. There’s a particular scene in the movie where Lenard is have a gun is confused and he doesn’t know weather he being chased or chasing someone else although he continues for shot his gun as if it a normal thing. I don’t believe that send the right message out the people. In my opinion these scenes didn’t affect me because I personally know that behaviour isn’t acceptable in daily life. In the parts of the film where is get violent it’s clear to the consumer the film is dark and an unhappy place because of the characters reactions. A theory that could represent this to other people could be the ‘Copy Cat Theory’ which simply shows that bad behaviour is imitated by others. The Desensitisation Theory suggests that the audience’s attitudes could change because of the types of media consumed. Therefore if any viewer has been in a similar situation as Lenard they may believe it’s normal to kill some-one or have random gun fights in the street. This theory doesn’t just affect victims (widowed Lenard) but I may show criminal new crimes and the different ways of life, this would not benefit our society.
There are many different reasons why people may consume Memento this could be because the movie trailer attracted them or they were effected by the Hypodermics Syringe Theory where other people tell them what to watch because of recommendation and the audience watch it without realising what the film may entail. The Hypodermic Syringe Theory is often used in media as it’s an effective way of getting different audiences to consumer the media. Characters can be identified with issues in some people’s lives they are people that may have lost loved ones and people that care for people that have lost their memory.
Memento has a large sum of movie reviews on the internet and may of them with similar content this maybe because of the ‘Hypodermic Syringe Theory’. So many people may see the reviews that have been posted on the internet by reading them they made believe other people opinions instead of making there own opinion. The vague ending leaves more for discussion and puts importance on the two step flow theory as this film could have very different interpretations.
When I first watched the film I was completely confused and had to watch it again, after my second viewing of the film it was very clear that the film was working backwards. I believe that other peoples interpretation varied some people understood the film immediately and others got confused, once again I believe the ‘Copy-Cat Theory’ is why some people reacted in that way to the different ways to the film.
In this film there are different types of denotations, some consumers may talk about there opinions and what they understood and don’t understand about Memento, this is known as ‘The Two-Step Flow’. Consumers of Memento will talk to others about this film as they can find the ability to understand the film where it’s quite confusing for some viewers and then afterwards it would be discussed among the viewers of the film.
The theories I believe were most useful to the analysis in this text were the ‘Hypodermic Syringe Theory’ and ‘Two Step Flow. I believe this because of the internet reviews, the movie trailer and the film. The ‘Hypodermic Syringe Theory’ is used a lot because it influences the viewer to that it’s normal to have the same behaviour as Lenard. Also there is a scene in the film where Lenard hit Natile that may sub-consciously tell male viewer that when they have a bad temper is acceptable to hurt a woman. I also believe the. ‘Two Step Flow’ influences bad behaviour as it is shown through the media
In my conclusion I believe audience theories such as the’ Hypodermic Syringe ‘, Copy-Cat’, ‘Two Step Flow’ are always included in all types of media.

Evaluation
The purpose and target of the school magazine was to give parents and student information about what’s coming up and any results or trips that have taken place. The Howard Shout should appeal to parent and students because it’s attractive and holds a lot of information in a simple text.
The magazine follows a similar layout, by keeping the ‘orange’ titles to represent Halloween, there is a pumpkin on the front cover and the contents page so the theme of Halloween will be through out the magazine. I used the large orange titles so it’s clear what the magazine will have inside. The medium close-up shows student looking studious in her smart uniform. I chose this photo because it shows parents that the students are smart and studious.
The contents page follows the style of the magazine because it has a Halloween theme which is the titles coloured in orange to match the pumpkins that are on both the contents pages and front cover of the magazine; and also the Howard of Effingham logo on the front page and contents page.
I chose the image on the front cover of my magazine because it shows parent that student from The Howard of smart and well behaved; not looking untidy or scruffy. I also believe a medium close was the best type of photograph for the magazine because it will attract the target audience. I manipulated the photo by cropping it so it was too big and I brightened the photograph so it wasn’t dull. The mode of address was direct. The Mise-en scene of this image, the student is wearing the Howard of Effingham school uniform and standing against a brick wall. The colours that I used were orange to represent the Halloween theme. The body language and facial expression of the image is happy and polite.
The fronts I used were from a web site (www.dafronts.com) the fronts will appeal to both parents and students, they are brightly coloured in orange. The sub-heading is different fonts and they’ll appeal to the student because the are more bubbled and they are promoting activities such as the Halloween Disco. The text is all in an informal text so it’s readable by both adults and students.
If I had more time to improve my front cover and contents page I would have made it more colourful and added more pictures on the contents page. I would have also added buzz words to attract the more readers.
